Founded in 1958, the British School of Barcelona offers the British curriculum across their two campuses in Sitges and Castelldefels. The school's main aim is to provide children with both academic and social skills, in order to promote their core values of cultural sensitivity and living in a globalised society. Teachers and members of staff also promote support for children and their families, and hope to foster the child's natural love for learning throughout their educational journey.
The Castelldefels campus provides education from Early Years through to Secondary, with each age group designated their own play and social areas. The Early Years area has easy access to outside play areas to allow for the Continuous Provision framework to be effectively carried out, whereas the Primary school has a more enhanced playground. The Secondary school has classrooms dedicated to particular subjects, and offers a two-storey library and research centre, several practice rooms for music, a large art block and nine equipped laboratories. The campus further offers several shared facilities such as a large theatre, purpose-built dining rooms, a medical room, garden, sports area and more.
Located close to the Castelldefels campus is their new and state-of-the-art International Pre-University Centre. The centre offers many seminar and tutorial rooms, places for research and self study, sports facilities and more, and students can also make use of the facilities at the school next door. The pre-education curriculum is designed for students aged 16-19 years, helping them prepare for life beyond school, including university and working life.
