The Rubio and Lluch gardens are a small green area occupying the patio of the Antic Hospital de la Santa Creu, a medieval monastery and hospital. Located near Barcelona's most famous market, La Boqueria, the garden is surrounded by the Gothic walls of the monastery and is filled with orange trees and flowers surrounding a small fountain.
The former hospital operated for centuries, and then closed in 1930 when new facilities were built. Currently, it houses numerous cultural institutions, including the Catalan National Library.
