The Aribau cinema opened in 1962 with the film West Side Story, which broke all records by lasting almost two years on the bill. On December 7, 2012, the fiftieth anniversary of the theater was celebrated with the screening of the inaugural film West Side Story. The interior decoration, which is still maintained, was the work of designer and interior designer Antoni Bonamusa.
In 2000 it was renamed Aribau Multicines, but the historic room was preserved, with its 1,174 seats and its large screen, and four more rooms were built on the opposite sidewalk, in the place where it had been inaugurated just a century before.
