Las Terrazas del Maresme is the creation of musician Harry Yeates (Devon, UK) and architect Lucia Miño (Buena Aires, Argentina). Once an old abandoned tennis club, the site has been slowly revived into a dynamic green space over the last two and a half years. The idea was to create not just a restaurant serving homemade, original cooking, but a homely, creative space where you can relax on your own, or with friends and family. Las Terrazas del Maresme offers everything from a quick cup of coffee or a glass of Vermut at sunset, to breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner.
At 70m from the seashore and on a hillside position, the two spacious terraces offer unparalleled, panoramic sea views. A comfortable, large indoor salon, equipped with a wood burning stove, provides a warm welcome in winter. Fully restored tennis courts, also with glorious views, hidden just beyond the restaurant, are for hire and can serve to build the appetite with a pre-meal match. Several events held at the site build ties with the local communities of Mataró and Barcelona, such as wine tasting, secondhand markets and concerts, while ‘Jazz with Vermut Sundays’, starting at 12 noon is fast becoming a popular retreat.
Calçot season is a speciality of Las Terrazas del Maresme, with a very well-priced calçot menu, which includes aperitif, rustic seasonal salad, calçots with romesco, Argentinean style bbq, dessert and coffee, complete with a bottle of wine for two. A regularly updated menú is also available all year round, including a tasty "carta" with dishes ranging from tuna tartar to black spaghetti and Iberian pork to homemade gourmet beef burgers. Vegetarian options are also provided.
Harry and Lucia also host large groups, birthday celebrations and business parties, offering tailor-made events with a creative touch that produces a memorable experience. They also have a large, inconspicuous, on-site car park, a feature usually absent from city and town venues, but which is an invaluable addition for an organised event. Just call them to discuss your ideas. Good music, good food, company and ambiance await you just a 30-minute drive (or 40 minutes by train with a 20-minute walk) from Barcelona.
