This month on the Metropolitan Culture Corner, we speak with fashion designer, personal stylist and private chef, Philissa Williams. From her very first trunk shows in Washington DC to African Fashion Week and solo runway shows in Barcelona, her handmade, one-of-a-kind dresses and upcycled pieces are unique, easy to wear, and impossible to confuse with any other designer’s work. Her brand is called Thembe Fashions, and over the past 15 years she has left her mark on the both the worlds of independent fashion and food. She is also the head stylist for the new series You Make Me Feel Lonely.
Last month, we interviewed highly-respected guitarist, composer and producer Pedro Javier González. From winning top honors at national competitions in the 1980s to touring as a part of several the top-selling acts in Spain in the 1990s, from producing other artists to writing for commercials and even appearing as a soloist with the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra in Moscow, Pedro Javier González is a multifaceted artist whose musical range only continues to grow with time.
