Ziggy Alberts has established himself as one of Australia's leading independent artists in recent years. His genuine grassroots story has captivated audiences around the world, amassing more than 1.6 million monthly listeners on Spotify alone. With his folk music he has achieved six gold singles, one gold album, seven platinum singles, one double platinum single and one platinum EP.
In November, Ziggy released Dancing in the Dark, his sixth album that explores what he calls "future folk." This work is a chapter of Alberts' growth as an artist, of his music, and of his personal discoveries, both introspective and in the natural world. The record is honest, genuine and emotionally vulnerable, yet with creative melody, humility and lyrical solace.
His compatriot Tay Oskee opens the evening. In his songs we find sincere lyrics with traces of his past, present and future, traversing a spectrum that goes from relaxed beach melodies to impactful folk, reinforced by his characteristic instrumentation of guitars, banjo, harmonica and percussion.
