South Korean composer and performer Youn Sun Nah has been making a name for herself for some time in almost all of Europe, especially in France, where she was awarded the Order of Arts and Letters distinction in 2009. In fact, she had been trained there in the mid-nineties, building a solid career, and releasing more than a dozen albums marked by a unique sensitivity. vocal jazz is her starting point, but she has an enormous capacity to build her own “tower of song," as Leonard Cohen would say, also based on folk and avant-garde influences.
Bookings at prestigious jazz festivals such as the one in Montreux or International Jazz Day in Havana (sharing the bill with Herbie Hancock, Regina Carter and Esperanza Spalding) attest to her ability to shape her own sonic world.
