Singer Yadira Ferrer Rey, with a soprano range, was born in Holguín, Cuba, where she graduated as choir director at the José María Ochoa Conservatory. She also graduated in classical and contemporary singing in Barcelona, at the ESMUC, where she was a student of Francesc Garrigosa, Assumpta Mateu and Ofelia Sala.
Currently one of the great names of Cuban music in Barcelona, Ferrer is part of a generation of versatile voices that the Antillean island has garnered. She masterfully combines her classical training with the influence of traditional son. Throughout her career, she has participated in different classical music and world music projects in Cuba and in several European countries. In Barcelona, where she has lived since 2003, she has been part of the Sant Jordi Choir and has collaborated with the Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès.
