Urbes, Contemporary Urban Landscape explores how current artists represent the reality of their urban environment, establishing a dialogue between construction and destruction, between the individual and the collective. Painting an urban landscape is bearing witness to a transformation. The works invite us to reflect on the constant changes of urban life, driven by progress and ongoing environmental, political and cultural challenges.
The distinctive architecture and iconic buildings of cities around the globe are highlighted, as well as hidden corners and fleeting scenes of nightlife. Some pieces emphasize the tension between the natural and the artificial, depicting areas where nature reclaims its rightful space among ruins and abandoned spaces.
Showcasing the diversity and cultural richness of urban life, the exhibition reflects on the process of transformation and modernization of the city, highlighting the contrast between the old and the new. It offers a personal and subjective perspective of the artists on life in the city, including feelings, emotions and individual experiences.
