The Necks at L'Auditori

Starting life as a duo, and occasional trio, hanging around the rehearsal room just playing for the sake of it, The Necks are now one of the world’s most celebrated improvising trios with a career spanning more than 30 years. Pianist and organist Chris Abrahams, drummer Tony Buck and bassist Lloyd Swanton are experts in crafting lengthy improvised pieces based on repetition to create a trance-like effect. Producing almost static pieces that are transformed by subtle variations on the motifs of music inspired by jazz, rock and minimalism. A style encompassing a whole host of genres and yet not conforming to a single one. Each first note is the seed of an intricate sensory journey.
