Colours Fire Hamada Artigas
This exhibition shows a new approach to the artistic relationship between Catalunya and Japan. Showcasing ceramics based on the work of two famous ceramic artists of the 20th century: Josep Llorens Artigas (1892-1980) and Hamada Shōji (1894-1978).
The personal relationship and mutual admiration between the artists is the link on which this exhibition is based—an in-depth look at the impact and inspiration generated by Japanese ceramics.
The exhibition focuses on the art of ceramics and is complemented by other types of art, photographs, and documents of the period. Altogether it shows the fruitful link between Catalan artists and Japanese artists in the mid-twentieth century.
