The Bad and the Beautiful goes into the corridors of Hollywood to reveal the good and the bad, through the confrontation between artistic creation and the figure of a producer. The film won five Oscars, including Best Supporting Actress (Gloria Grahame) and Best Adapted Screenplay.
It was inspired by real people (including Jacques Tourneur and producer Val Lewton) and became a devastating description of the inner workings of the American film industry during Hollywood's golden years. Kirk Douglas plays the producer who achieves success by going above and beyond anyone and who uses everyone to get what he wants.
