The singer Sofia Ribeiro debuted at the Voll-Damm Jazz Festival last year with a concert commissioned by Jazz & Food, inspired by Bobby McFerrin's Circle Songs, with whom she has collaborated for years. Born in Portugal and now living in Catalunya for several years, Ribeiro is another great universal artist living in our midst—every encounter with her is truly inspiring.
She arrives at Jamboree with a stellar piano-less trio completed by two of her regular collaborators: guitarist Bartolomeo Barenghi and percussionist Marcelo Woloski. "There is a lot of space, interaction and improvisation in this trio, and sometimes we invite the audience to sing with us," explains the singer from Vila Nova de Gaia, next to Oporto. "We make the arrangements between the three of us," she continues, "navigating between the harmonies of jazz, the rhythms of Brazil and the sounds of Portugal." A proposal full of sensitivity, virtuosity and delicacy.
