Of all the memorable Catalan traditions, which include correfocs (fire runs) and dancing gegants (giants), it's arguably the human towers that have the most impact on those watching them. To enjoy a true festival of these castells, head to Vilafranca de Penedès for its annual festa major which commemorates the town's patron Sant Fèlix.

During the festival, the streets are crowded with children and adults alike following dances, parades, human tower demonstrations and other entertainment in celebration of Sant Fèlix Day. The music and processions in honor of the saint ultimately lead to the Basilica of Santa Maria, and street theater and concerts round out the fun where the townspeople are the main characters.
