Tossa de Mar Tossa de Mar
Tossa de Mar plays host to an incredible rumba festival that features live concerts on the Platja Gran de Tossa guaranteed to get you moving. “Rumba catalana” is a genre developed by the Catalan gypsy community in Barcelona in the mid 1950s. It's an irresistible sound that combines flamenco and rumba rhythms with rock & roll influences and Cuban music.
Once a meeting place for artists from around the world, Tossa de Mar was dubbed the "blue paradise" by painter Marc Chagall. The town dazzled actress Ava Gardner while she was filming Pandora and the Flying Dutchman (1951), and her time there is still remembered today through a statue of her that stands in the city. You can also find "besos de Ava Gardner," Ava Gardner's kisses, which are sold in bakeries in the area.
