Rebecca Solnit is one of the most renowned essayists on the international scene in recent years. In her work she discusses issues such as climate change, human rights and feminism from a viewpoint that has the ability to make the most ordinary things universal. In her latest book Orwell's Roses, Solnit discovers George Orwell's unknown vocation for the natural world and, from this new perspective, claims a more optimistic reading of his work that goes beyond dystopian and totalitarian landscapes, and connects Orwell with issues such as desire, imagination and nature.
