Patti Smith is a world-renowned singer, songwriter, composer and visual artist. She released her first album Horses in 1975 and was included in the National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress in 2010. Throughout her career she has released a number of notable albums, including Easter with the famous song "Because the Night" written with Bruce Springsteen.
Today, Smith is a multi-faceted individual who is dedicated to writing, music and supporting human rights causes and environmental groups. She is most notable for her involvement in Pathway to Paris, a non-profit organization that seeks solutions to combat climate change.
Based in New York, she is also a featured writer on Substack, where she publishes her writings and readings twice a week. Her renowned band includes guitarist and author Lenny Kaye, with whom she has collaborated since 1971, drummer Jay Dee Daugherty since 1975, Tony Shanahan on bass and keyboards since 1996, and her son, guitarist Jackson Smith, for over a decade.
