After his visit with the sextet that he co-led with Chucho Valdés (in 2022) and his performance as a soloist and composer with the Banda Municipal de Barcelona (in 2023), Cuban saxophonist and clarinetist Paquito D’Rivera brings a much more bare ensemble to the Voll-Damm Jazz Festival this time around. He is joined by fellow Cuban Pepe Rivero, a reference pianist in Spanish jazz and a regular collaborator of Paquito in his latest adventures. Listeners will find msuic of all kinds in the duo's repertoire: Cuban music, Brazilian music, jazz standards—it's the art of the duo at its best.
