The story of the Kenyan JS Ondara is yet another example of the American dream come true. He's a young man who started writing his songs without a guitar—because he couldn't afford one when he lived in his country—who moved to the United States in his early twenties. He got a green card in 2013, settled in Minnesota because Bob Dylan was his great idol and managed, practically out of nowhere, to sign a contract with the prestigious Verve record company in its Forecast division, dedicated to rock and folk. And it is that acoustic folk that is his great vein, with clear influences of Dylan, Tracy Chapman, Neil Young and Jeff Buckley.
His albums ales Of America (2019), Tales Of America (The Second Coming) (2019) and Folk n' Roll Vol. 1: Tales Of Isolation (2020). all exude authenticity, heartbreak and spirituality, and now for the first time they can be heard live in Spain. A unique occasion.
