Offering a journey through the local and global evolution of natural history museums, from the cabinets of curiosities of the past to the modern natural science museums of today, this exhibition provides insights into the relationship between the human being and nature.

This exhibit was created by the Museu de Ciències Naturals de Barcelona and features some of the museum’s most emblematic displays. These include the skeleton of the elephant L’Avi, who was the star attraction of the Barcelona Zoo long before the famous gorilla Floquet de Neu (Snowflake), as well as a diorama of the last two falcons that lived in the bell tower of Santa Maria del Pi Church, just to name a couple examples.

Yet beyond the displays, this exhibition also raises questions around the role to be played by natural science museums and collections in the future and the social and climate challenges that they will be facing.
