The Montjuic Amusement Park was an attraction in the city of Barcelona on Montjuic mountain that was inaugurated in 1966. It remained in operation for more than thirty years, until it closed its doors in 1998. During that time, it became an emblematic spot in Barcelona.
A brainchild of Barcelona mayor Josep Maria de Porcioles in the mid-sixties, the park was one of the city's transformational projects promoted by the Francoist city council as a part of a propaganda operation that sought to sell a more modern image of the regime.
Currently, the space that the old amusement park occupied has been dismantled and converted into the Joan Brossa Gardens, but the exposition tells the tale of how things used to be.
