The German duo formed by bassoon player Mathis Kaspar Stier and accordionist Julius Schepansky features two instruments rarely heard in chamber music ensembles in a program that reveals the magic they create through their arrangements. It begins with an atmospheric piece by American composer Paula Matthusen, followed by an early work of Polish composer Krzysztof Penderecki. We will then hear the hypnotic Quasi Improvisata by Estonian Lepo Sumera and a frenetic, precisely timed piece by French composer Roger Boutry. The last item on the program is a commissioned work from Icelandic composer and violinist Maria Huld Markan Sigfúsdóttir.
