"Resolution, acceptance of certain things in life, growth and vulnerability. This album, Hortelã, was a lot like that, it was almost looking inside, understanding what to change and from there moving forward." Look inward, growth and vulnerability. This is how the Portuguese singer Maro described the album, Hortelã, created with Catalan guitarists Darío Barroso and Pau Figueres in an interview.
She herself has defined the recording as an exercise in sadness that the public at her concerts receives in combination with enormous euphoria: sad beauty is also the joy of living, as it were. "She has an air of innocence on stage that makes her very captivating," wrote a spectator who was able to see her live.
Hortelã not only showcases Maro's talent but also serves as a testament to the power of music to evoke complex emotions and create a connection between the artist and the audience.
