Los Aurora: Ciutat Flamenco 2022
to
Luz de Gas Muntaner 246, 08021 Barcelona
Los Aurora is an acclaimed flamenco-jazz ensemble that revolutionized the national and international world music scene with the release of their first album Aurora (Taller de Músics/Discmedi, 2017). Their mix of musical styles is daring and personal, and represents a breath of fresh air for traditional genres like flamenco and jazz.
The band has since performed in venues and festivals around the world, embarking on international tours that have taken them to stages in Canada, Korea, Chile, Russia, Israel, Hungary, Germany, Poland, and other countries.
At Luz de Gas in Barcelona, the dynamic group will present their new live show as a part of the concert cycle Ciutat Flamenco. The famous painting La Balsa de la Medusa by Théodore Géricault served as the conceptual starting point for their new album of the same name, which is a musical critique of the decadence into which humanity has fallen due to the corruption of power. The band’s artistic approach has also been transformed in order to adapt to this new material, edging ever closer to a rock aesthetic, without losing their flamenco roots.
Barcelona-based band is formed by vocalist Pere Martínez, Max Villavecchia on piano, Javi Garrabella on bass and Joan Carles Marí on drums. This show is also marked by an additional, new visual component, thanks to the unique lighting design by Àngel Guilanyà. The formation will be completed with two talented dancers: Pol Jiménez and José Manuel Álvarez, who unite tradition and modernity with their unique and even experimental styles of dance.
Fans of flamenco, jazz, rock, world music, fusion and beyond won’t want to miss this special concert.
