Living Nativity at Les Gunyoles d'Avinyonet
Les Gunyoles d'Avinyonet 08793 Barcelona
The pessebre vivent at Les Gunyoles in Avinyonet is a live nativity scene with period and traditional costumes and recorded music that has been performed since 1976. One of the town's important cultural activities, it has been celebrated every year since then with the exception of the year 2020 due to COVID-19.
What distinguishes it from the rest of the Christmas nativity performances across Catalunya it is the fact that it is a spoken staging: it would be the closest thing to the representation of shepherds in the open air. The history of these performances begins with the traditional Pastorets evening organized by the Parish of Sant Salvador de Les Gunyoles at the local church. Then the idea arose to move the show to the town's streets, and the spoken living nativity was born.
