After the celebrated meeting last year with his former colleagues Brad Mehldau, Christian McBride and Brian Blade, Joshua Redman returns to the Voll-Damm Jazz Festival to present his new project, Where Are We, in which the saxophonist collaborates for the first time with a vocalist, the Californian Gabrielle Cavassa. 

“The concept of Where Are We is very simple,” Redman himself explained. “Each song on the album deals with, or refers to, a geographically specific place in the United States. For example, Streets of Philadelphia (Bruce Springsteen), Going to Chicago (Count Basie), Manhattan (Rodgers & Hart) and Alabama  (John Coltrane)." 

"So," Redman continues, "in a way, this is an album about America, both a celebration and a critique.”

It represents a new step in a career that, year after year, places Redman at the center of the contemporary jazz scene.
