Jordana B is the pseudonym under which the Argentine-Spanish artist María Solá Oteyza makes songs. She is the daughter of actors, directors and playwrights Miguel Ángel Solá and Blanca Oteyza, and began studying piano at the age of seven.
After graduating in audiovisual communication, screenwriting and dabbling with drama, María began performing her poems on the stages of Madrid. She frequented the PoetrySlam, as well as different open mic venues that made her gradually become known as an author. The public's liking for her lyrics led her to the subsequent publication of her two poetry books; she decided to create the alter ego Jordana B for her final degree work, an act that allowed her to make the leap to music.
The experiment went well. Seeing the public's response, she decided not to abandon the character. Choosing to create the kind of music she wants to, her project took a complete turn with one of her best-known songs, "Cumbia B." It was a second shot that hit the mark. Jordana B mixes her lyrics and rhythms with fresh sounds, noises, choruses, onomatopoeias, catchy rhythms and a lot of show and theatricality.
