The city of Tarragona plays host to a new edition of the International Fireworks Competition, with pyrotechnics experts from around the world taking part.

Celebrated since 1321, the festival and is recognized as an event of national touristic interest by Spanish government. Each year the City Council of Tarragona elects a board of judges, which then selects the six international pyrotechnic companies that will compete. The competition will fill the skies of Tarragona with light and color against the beautiful background of the Playa del Miracle beach. It is a great open-air party which more than 60,000 spectators regularly attend. The winner of the competition will also receive the commission for the firework castle in the Santa Tecla festival in the fall.
