Straddling jazz and other genres, the Guy Mintus Trio offers a unique repertoire with jazz adaptations of the works of Mozart, Beethoven and Chopin; arrangements of the traditional Israeli songbook; a revision of the music of George Gershwin—the material from his latest album—and, of course, his own songs. Mintus and his crew spontaneously combine this palette of styles masterfully. With roots in Morocco, Iraq and Poland, the Israeli Guy Mintus is a restless character—a musician who takes all kinds of different approaches: jazz, classical, traditional and even ska-punk. For his diligent work in different fields, he has received awards and recognition from institutions such as the Bernstein Foundation, Down Beat magazine and the Montreux Jazz Festival.
