Fira de la Garnatxa i del Brunyol de Garriguella
Garnatxa and Brunyol Fair in Alt Empordà
Garriguella 17780 Garriguella
Every year on the Saturday before Easter the Garnatxa and Brunyol Fair is held in the little northern Catalan town of Garriguella. It brings together an artisan market of local products with brunyols and garnatxa wines taking center stage.
These little doughnut-like pastries as better known as bunyols in Barcelona and buñuelos in the rest of Spain. But the brunyol, with an "r," comes from the Empordà region—and they say in Garriguella, "the buñuelo will never be a brunyol." Garnacha is a grape typical of the area; it has a naturally sweet component with a warm flavor and silky finish that is ideal for desserts.
Other activities include workshops, children's activities, a craft market, wine tasting, sardana dancing, batucada and live music.
