The history of the human face begins with Stone Age masks and ends with the faces produced by modern media. In his book Faces: A History of the Face, famous art historian Hans Belting discovered in theater masks, actors' facial expressions, portraiture, photography, film and contemporary art, multiple attempts to control the symbolism and narrative of the face. In the process, he demonstrated the permanent failure to represent the life of the face and of the self.
The exhibition Face Control examines this situation through representation in the media, in art, and on social networks.
