Ex-Husbands, Noah Pritzker (USA, 2023)

Peter’s parents are divorcing after spending 65 years together. Upset, he doesn’t see his own marital crisis coming. Due to a coincidence, he suddenly finds himself heading to Tulum with his two sons. The youngest son, Mickey, who recently came out, takes charge of his older brother Nick’s bachelor party, though Nick doesn’t seem overly thrilled about it. Their three lives are both adrift and full of hope. For better or for worse, their trip becomes an odyssey.

Filmmaker Noah Pritzker has brought together a solid cast, including actors like Griffin Dunne and Rosanna Arquette, to tell a story about breakups and hope with great sensitivity. It’s a tale of missed opportunities, the impact of time on relationships, and how new connections can fill us with hope, even when unsure if time is on our side. Ex-husbands, screened at the last edition of the San Sebastián Film Festival, is set to inaugurate this year’s edition of Americana.
