Born in Riga, Latvia, and currently residing in Spain, Elīna Garanča is considered the best mezzo-soprano in the world.
After recent successes in her debut as Kundry in Wagner's Parsifal in Bayreuth, her interpretation of Princess of Eboli in the opening of the Teatro alla Scala season and as Amneris in Aida in Calixto Bieito's production in Berlin, she arrives to the Liceu to offer his recital in full form.
With a captivating and beautiful timbre, seamless in tonal changes, with a silky center, resonant lows and piercing highs, the Latvian songstress dives into each role living the essence of the music. Always seducing with her voice and inflections, going through the pieces guided by the sensuality of her phrasing.
