The Fira del Tap i el Suro (Cork Fair) highlights the world of cork, a natural product deeply rooted in most of the towns around the Gavarres Massif, including Cassà de la Selva.
In a circuit that allows you to travel from Gavarres to the tables of any restaurant or house in the world, you can discover where many of the corks that protect the best bottles of wine and cava in the world are made. More than 40 activities are programed, including live music performances, artisan markets, children activities, food trucks and more.
Cassà de la Selva is a town located between the Gavarres Massif and the Selva plain, marked by the manufacture of cork, an element that has shaped the landscape, economy and traditions of the town and the surrounding territory. The festival illustrates how el suro (cork) is an example of how nature and people are integrated in a system that shapes life, landscape and culture. The cultivation of this simple and useful product has shaped the ecosystem; the landscape modified and worked by human activity was a means of life for entire generations.
