We may live in a world that increasingly tries to put more barriers between us, but music is a universal language that transcends any border. It's a cliché, yes, but in the hands of Charlie Winston it's also a truth like. British from 1978, Winston has been more popular in France (and even in other European countries) for years than in his own land. In fact, he won the European Border Breakers Award in 2010, just after his single "Like A Hobo" became a worldwide hit, and his recent fifth album, As I Am (2022), is another show of personal reaffirmation in hangover from Brexit: a stark sampler of confessional folk-pop recorded for the Tôtou Tard label and produced by Vianney, with occasional collaborations such as Ibrahim Maalouf's trumpet, which confirms the talent of this singer-songwriter and rhythm guitarist, creator of radiant melodies that can seduce any type of public.
