"Bones of Crows," Marie Clements (Canada, 2022).
Bones of Crows, Marie Clements (Canada, 2022).
Bones of Crows is a multi-generational story of resilience told through the eyes of Cree matriarch Aline Spears. Estranged from the family home and forced to enter Canada's residential school system, young musical prodigy Aline and her siblings find themselves immersed in a fight for survival. For the next hundred years, Aline and her descendants will fight against systemic hunger, racism and sexual abuse, but also to build a more just future.
Bones of Crows weaves together underrepresented moments in Canadian and Indigenous history, including Indigenous contributions in World War II, the cases of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls, and Canada's Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
Film will be screened in original version with subtitles in Spanish.
A film in the 2023 edition of IndieFest, Barcelona Indigenous Film Festival.
