BCN Film Fest 2024
to
Fusing art-house projects and film with a focus on quality, the BCN Film Fest aims to appeal to a film-loving and culture-driven public, coinciding with the widely-celebrated Día de Sant Jordi. The festival offers a selection of international films which are widely related to literature and history. In line with this criteria, preferred films for the Official Section are adaptations of literary works, productions based on or related to historical events and film biopics about well-known figures.
The festival features seven sections: Official Selection; Cinema amb Gràcia (dedicated to comedies); Zona Oberta, Art al Cinema (dedicated to great art documentaries); Imprescindibles (dedicated to auteur classics, this year to filmmaker Win Wenders); a section dedicated to Asian noir film by CineAsia; and a brand new category Nous talents with a sample of 15 short student films.

The schedule for the 26th edition is still in the works, but films confirmed so far in the program include Meg Ryan's romantic comedy What Happens Later (USA, 2023); Vincent Perez's Une affaire d'honneur (The Edge of the Blade) (France, 2023), a vibrant film that mixes historical drama and adventure cinema; and Eric Toledano and Olivier Nakache will present the comedy Une année difficile (A Difficult Year) (France, 2023), with many more to come. In addition, this year the festival pays tribute to filmmaker Yasujirô Ozu with a retrospective his films.
