For over 30 years, the Barcelona International Women's Film Festival has championed women's voices in film. Passionately feminist, irreverence is part of fabric of the festival, questioning and counter-proposing the construction of gender and of power in general.

In staunch defense of women’s authorship, the festival revisits the creative work of women from the past and makes space for new cinematic histories that include the presence and voices of dissident bodies and identities systematically erased by the official narrative.

The festival also fosters a vibrant filmmaking community, hosting workshops, conferences and online spaces to provide opportunities for learning and connection. And a unique initiative, the "Video of the Minute," invites women of all experience levels to contribute to a collaborative documentary, offering a powerful platform for diverse perspectives.

The festival enjoys broad support, including from major public institutions, and offers a curated series of works from a selection of directors from around the globe.
