Alice's World. Dreaming of Wonderland
to
CaixaForum Barcelona Av. de Francesc Ferrer i Guàrdia 6-8, 08038 Barcelona
Alice in Wonderland, by Lewis Carroll, written in 1865, is a cultural phenomenon. Translated into more than 170 languages, it continues to be printed and is part of the collective imagination. The scope of its influence crosses generations, artists and disciplines: fashion, theatre, film, photography and science.
The exhibition offers different answers to why a Victorian character is so significant, the culture that fostered its writing and how the themes and ideas raised in it continue to be relevant. The exhibition incorporates a playful dimension and a space for reflection, facilitating a dialogue between Alice's world and our own. A journey divided into five sections—The Invention of Alice, Through the Screen, Alice, Gateway to Other Worlds, Alice on Stage and Becoming Alice—that follows our heroine's journey.
