Her contact with the work of Maria Bethania, Caetano Veloso, Luiz Melodía, Elis Regina and Brazilian music in general, prompted her to launch herself as a singer and in 1984 Adriana Calcanhotto began as a professional, performing in various bars in her hometown, Porto Alegre, Brazil.
Since her first tour in 1990 throughout Brazil in which she was considered the musical revelation of the year, the singer and composer hasn't stopped. A gold record, several more tours and an album recorded in New York.
The variety of styles characterize her songs: samba, bossa nova, funk, rock, pop and even ballads. Some examples are the songs that have marked her career "Veneno Bom," which was the winning composition of an Honorable Mention in the International Songwriting Contest (ISC) this year, and "Flor Encarnada."
