A Taste of Honey is a 1961 British film adaptation of Shelagh Delaney's 1958 original version. Written and produced alongside Tony Richardson, Delaney aimed to create a film with a gritty vision, now recognized as kitchen-sink realism that would define the British filmmaker’s career.
Not only did Richardson co-write the script with Delaney, he also directed and produced the film. The script mirrors the storyline and dialogue of the play, but expands the setting from a claustrophobic, cramped apartment to the rural landscape of Lancashire.
This film is an uncompromising representation of working class life in industrial Manchester in the 1960s, with a modern and sensitive approach to gender and race issues.
Screened in original version with Catalan subtitles.
