The director of this concert, John McGuire, is one of the most outstanding figures in post-70s music. His years working in the Westdeutscher Rundfunk electronic music studio in Cologne, Germany, combined with time spent pioneering experimentalism in the United States has made him a musical reference for current and future generations.
McGuire leads talented musicians Mark Knoop and Roderick Chadwick in a performance of 48 Variations for Two Pianos, a work commissioned by Herbert Henck. It is constructed on a series of patterns and builds up the rhythm over its multi-layered structure.
You can see the concert live at L’Auditori, or follow it on-line at L’Auditori Digital on Sunday, May 8th at 6pm.
