The Coffee House is the perfect place to grab a quick breakfast, lunch or brunch in the Eixample. This central location serves specialty coffee as well as acai bowls, bagels, sandwiches and salads. While all these options can be ordered separately, the combos here are what make this one of the most affordable breakfasts in Barcelona. A personal favorite is the New York combo: for just €7.50 you get a coffee of your choice, fresh orange juice, a chocolate chip cookie and a ham, cheese and fried egg bagel, making it a great deal.

Piñata Barcelona
This Mexican cocktail bar and eatery doubles as an unconventional brunch spot from Thursday to Sunday. Aside from offering some of the best tequila drinks in the Raval, Piñata presents traditional Mexican dishes in a unique brunch format, with enchiladas, enmoladas and chilaquiles for €7 to €8. Plus, it’s one of the few places in town where you can get authentic café de olla, aguas frescas (including Mexican horchata) or chocolate de agua (cinnamon spiced hot chocolate).

Ugot Bruncheire
This quirky cafe, located in the Eixample Esquerra, serves its coffee and homemade cakes on a vintage China collection and its extensive brunch menu features classics like French toast or a traditional shakshuka for €8.50 and burgers for €10.50. Ugot produces all the coffee classics using beans from the Familia Osorio Roastery in Manresa, as well as some interesting iced teas and juices such as the hibiscus, orange and vanilla ice tea for €2.50. It also has some vegan options such as the vegan shakshuka and the vegan burger, providing great plant-based alternatives to classic dishes.

Just a short walk from the beach, Nolita is a New York inspired eatery with an industrial vibe in the quiet Poblenou neighborhood. Brunch highlights include eggs Benedict with pulled pork for €10.50 or a pulled pork sandwich for €7.50. If you want both a savory and sweet brunch, but don’t have space for two dishes, Nolita’s fluffy American-style pancakes topped with fresh fruit can be ordered in quarter or half portions.

Alsur Café & Backdoor Bar
“What you want, when you want” is this cafe's slogan; with locations in El Born and Eixample, Alsur prides itself on serving specialty coffee alongside brunch classics with a creative twist. Its “epic brunch” spotlights Latin inspired dishes like the “Reina Pepeada” for €8.90—a beetroot arepa (think savory cornmeal cake) stuffed with avocado chicken salad topped with sour-cream. Or, try the southern US classic chicken and waffles for €9.70. Burgers and sandwiches are also available here as well as an English breakfast burrito that includes spicy chorizo and black beans for €8.95.

OMA Bistró
OMA Bistró's mismatched chairs and bare brick walls provide an airy, casual atmosphere filled with music and chatter. Located in the heart of Eixample, the menu includes all the favorites: French toast, pancakes, bagels, fried eggs or shakshuka for €8.50 to €10. But by far its most popular dish is the eggs Benedict with pastrami for €12.50. Have the barista prepare you a freshly brewed cup of Joe from local roasters El Magnifico, or pair your brunch with a craft beer from Caravelle or Garage. But this bright, unassuming little cafe does not just offer up your everyday brunch items; here you’ll discover banana bread with vanilla mascarpone and raspberry coulis for €6, scrambled eggs with chives, caramelized onions, cheddar cheese and sriracha mayo inside a toasted brioche bun for €7.70 or the vegan falafel wrap with harissa hummus for just €8.40. Other mouth-watering vegan items include the “shwings” (mushroom wings) for €6.40, the imamu burger for €10.50 or the kimchi pancakes with miso mayo and sweet chilli sauce for €11.50. Self-styled as “la casa de los amantes de la comida saludable” (the house for health food lovers), The Juice House is an inventive cafe that produces healthy, wholesome dishes using locally sourced products. Operating in a warehouse-chic space in Sant Antoni, its creative dishes are inspired by Venezulean, Caribbean and Mediterranean cuisine. The plato criollo—a hearty dish of scrambled eggs, turkey, feta, avocado cream and beans sauteed in cacao served with carrot arepas—is €9.50. Or try the savory green, oat, chia and spinach pancakes topped with avocado, egg and mushrooms for €9.90.

Eat My Trip
This brunch restaurant is located in an area of Eixample that may soon be known as the Brunch district because it’s filled with so many classic brunch spots like Billy Brunch and Brunch and Cake. Eat My Trip is a cozy bruncherie that is just as good in comparison, creating top-notch specialty coffees and deliciously creative dishes that combine classic American cuisine with Japanese and Thai flavors—including several vegan and gluten-free dishes. The Thai eggs Benedict, topped with spinach, mushrooms, panang curry sauce and papadums, are a new take on a brunch classic for €9.95. Or, try the sweet Korean, a roasted sweet potato stuffed with homemade kimchi, hummus, pico de gallo, avocado and tahini sauce, all for €10.95. While the smoothies here might not fit a tighter budget, the specialty coffees starting at €1.60 surely will.

Located in the Barri Gotic not too far from the port, The Benedict is a great location for exploring the streets of Barcelona. This trendy lounge bar serves a brunch that ranges from a conventional full-English breakfast or a New York style bagel to Mexican tacos and cochina pibil. You may recognize this brunch spot from our article Barcelona’s Best Brunch Spots. Cremat Lounge also makes this list for its €25 “Bubble Brunch.” While it may not seem budget-friendly, it’s on this list for those who are looking to celebrate a special occasion but don’t want to break the bank doing it. Starting at 14:00 every Sunday, it includes one main dish as well as unlimited cava for two hours. What really tops off this experience is the in-house DJ who plays music all afternoon to keep in the celebrating mood.
